Evidence

‘The termination of the ghastly struggle is not yet in sight, but before the advent of your next annual meeting, may the righteousness of the Allied Cause be vindicated, and the poet’s vision be consummated, who, during a former war to end a mighty wrong, heard, at a Christmas time similar to that just past, the bells peal- “More loud and deep- God is not dead nor doth He sleep; The wrong shall fail, The right prevail, With peace on earth, goodwill to men.”’
