Evidence

‘December 8 There are some very polished bits of verse in from some English Officers on the left; and a great deal of strong vivid rather crude stuff from Australians – far more than from New Zealanders. In one or two cases I have picked out a single verse from a long tedious poem, and with the least bit of polish it is excellent. One little gem on “ The silence” had its origin in this way ... December 26, Sunday Working all day at the Anzac magazine – a great deal of which really is excellent.’
