‘Dear Mr. Evans, I have to thank you for the very fine federal song you have sent me for the coming special number of the ""Courier"". I may say that my wish is to publish the song exactly as you have written it ...In any case as the federal supplement will probably be issued with the ""Queenslander"" and ""Observer"" you will see the advisedness of letting it stay where it will be most read. The supplement will be long studied and treasured after the other part of the paper has been used for sausage wrappers and “sich”[sic]; and though as editor I may like to think that the ""Courier"" leaders are kept sacred, it is certain that one’s best work does not receive the consideration it deserves.
